The holes for the attached points also vary. Garage doors come with their own weight-bearing safety standards, and if tampered with or not adhered to in a DIY install, you are running a major risk of causing serious damage to your door, your vehicle or yourself. The manufacturer’s guidelines are there for your own safety. If you are trying to create more storage space by keeping the old, you can buy some models with adjustable rails.
